About Wexford, Inc.
Wexford, Inc., a nonprofit educational agency based in Los Angeles, CA, Austin and Galveston, TX, has a 30-year history of providing program development, evaluation and professional learning services to local, regional, state agencies across 20 states, and for the U.S. Department of Education. Wexford provides in-person and virtual services to ensure they fit the needs and assets of district, charter, county, regional, university and other nonprofit agencies and the constituencies they serve. Wexford focuses on leading and supporting continual improvement efforts, along with evaluating and conducting research on program outcomes.
Wexford has:
Supported innovative and evidence-based programs, improving teaching and learning, school and community engagement.
Provided high-quality, customized services by expert staff to improve systems, programs and outcomes.
Engaged in long-term partnerships of up to 25 years with local and regional agencies.
Collaborated with educational agencies and foundations to obtain over $300 million in funding for them to create, develop, implement, and evaluate programs.
Wexford worked with LA vs Hate to support their development of local programs to prevent acts of hate in or for specific communities where there were increasing hate acts being committed (in California call 211 to report hate crimes). While doing that work and work with other agencies, we found an increase in school bullying and cyberbullying, along with an urgent need for information and resources to help educators, students and families prevent bullying. This growing need moved us to use our expertise to identify credible online resources, and with additional funding will go on to produce resources that could be readily accessed by all and put into practice.
Since Wexford’s inception as a nonprofit agency, we have focused on work that integrates the arts into K-8 curriculum, and the development of programs to improve the educational experiences of children and youth in under-resourced areas.
Sheila Cassidy, Founder and Executive Director of Wexford, the Wexford staff and associates, The Art of Belonging project design team, Pascale Cardozo, Natacha Salomon, Acquille Dunkley, along with guidance from Janice Smith-Hill, Ph.D., J.D, have developed Phase 1 of this initiative resulting in this website.
