Decades of research have provided educators, families and communities with valuable strategies  to prevent bullying, responding to incidents of bullying, and dealing with its long-term consequences.  Left unaddressed, bullying can escalate into more violent and controlling forms of aggression leading to hate crimes and exploitation of minors.  More recently, researchers have identified a variety of types of debilitating cyberbullying and strategies to help to prevent them.
